Our history

Our history dates back to 1939, when we were established as an asset management centre of excellence within Irish Life Assurance Company.

Since then we have developed a reputation for putting clients first, delivering the highest quality and innovation in investment solutions and developing collaborative long-term relationships with our clients and business partners.

Expanding investment capabilities

Initially focusing on active equity management, we have since expanded our investment capabilities into indexed equities and bonds, quantitative equity, active fixed income, property and alternatives asset classes.

We became one of the early adopters of indexation and quantitative multi -factor investing, introducing both disciplines into our business in the early nineties. At the same time, we have become one of the leading property investors in Ireland.

An expanding client base

Our innovative products and services, developed as a result of extensive research, client demand and market conditions, has enabled us grow and expand our customer base (both directly and through distribution partnerships) domestically and internationally.

Ownership structure

In July 2013, Irish Life Investment Managers (ILIM) became a wholly owned subsidiary within the Great-West Lifeco Inc. (ILIM’s direct parent Canada Life Group U.K. Ltd is a subsidiary of Canada Life Assurance Company).
